Personal resumes of key personnel are detailed below, not including employees specifically hired by and dedicated to one or more of the operating companies within the group, KG has a dedicated staff of 12 (7 development, financing, leasing, and operation professionals and 5 support staff). Currently, Kobayashi Group has developed over $3 billion worth of property in Hawai'i. Major projects include Kukio Golf and Beach Club and the Wailea Beach Resort Condominium-Hotel at Wailea. KG is also a partner in the development of Kapolei Commons Life Style Shopping Mall Phase II and Kona Commons Shopping Mall Phase II.

Bert Kobayashi began his career at Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc. ("ACK") in 1962 when his father and founder of ACK suffered an illness and Bert Kobayashi was asked to leave UH and take over ACK. Under Bert Kobayashi's leadership, ACK grew from a $2 million a year business to a $125 million a year company. When Mr. Kobayashi and other stakeholders sold the company to its employees in 1993, ACK was the largest locally-owned and the third largest General Contractor in Hawai'i. During his term as Chairman and CEO of ACK, Mr. Kobayashi built a reputation of getting the job done on schedule and within budget. Under his direction, ACK completed the following notable projects: Hilton Hawai'ian Village (including renovation of major retail components within the Village), Ko'Olina Golf Clubhouse (including retail club shops and Bay Restaurant), Sheraton Moana Surfrider (including various luxury retail shops including Tiffany's, Dunhill and others), The Turtle Bay Hilton, West Loch Estates, HMSA office & parking structure, and Country Club Villages in Salt Lake.
As President & CEO of Kobayashi Group, Patrick Kobayashi provides the necessary fiscal management, marketing and sales direction required by KG's projects. Mr. Kobayashi also manages the sales and leasing processes for KG's numerous developments, overseeing the sales teams in both residential and retail projects.
Mr. Kobayashi has 14 years of real estate development and investment experience. He managed the marketing and sales for the Napili Villas on Maui and provides the asset manager services for the Kalihi Kai Industrial Center and Leonui Street Office/Warehouse. Mr. Kobayashi also is a licensed Realtor Associate with Kometani Realty Inc. in Honolulu.
BJ Kobayashi is a co-founder & partner of Kobayashi Group ("KG"). BJ has 13 years of real estate development and investment experience that ranges from office building development in Kapolei to luxury resort residential developments on the Kona Coast. Under his direction, KG successfully responded to real estate market changes by transforming itself from a quality housing and commercial developer to a high-end resort, luxury residential and retail developer in recent years.
Kathryn Inouye holds the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Kobayashi Group, LLC and oversees all project development activities of Kobayashi Group.
Kathryn Inouye has over 30 years of real estate development experience in managing the development of various master planned communities, luxury resort communities, hotel-condominiums, schools and office buildings. She has been actively involved and oversees all areas of the development process including the performance of due diligence for the procurement of property, feasibility analysis, project schedules and budgets, market research and development, site planning, product development, implementation of government programs, entitlement processing, community presentations, contractual negotiations, construction and project management.
As Executive Vice President and Director of Marketing, Alana Pakkala oversees both Kobayashi Group's and its project's marketing. In this capacity, Ms. Pakkala works together with KG consultants and project managers to develop and execute marketing plans. She is also responsible for managing the interior design, IT, security and AV design process for all KG projects and sales offices as well as project management for KG’s luxury spec home developments.
Sandra Harano is the Chief Financial Officer for the Kobayashi Group and oversees the financial activities of KG and its related entities, including financial planning and monitoring cash flow.
Ms. Harano is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 25 years of experience in accounting and management. She is currently responsible for the financial record keeping and reporting, budgeting, cost control, cash management, and financing activities for the development projects, real estate assets, and investments managed by KG. She ensures that all Federal and State tax filing requirements are met. Working with company principals, legal counsel, lenders, brokers, and escrow companies, Ms. Harano manages the closing and recordation process for real estate purchases and sales. She is also involved in drafting agreements documenting the contract terms negotiated by the principals.
Elton Wong is a Project Manager with the Kobayashi Group. He is responsible for the renovation of the 345-hotel room Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort to a 1 Resort, incorporating exclusive luxury condominium residences.
Mr. Wong has over twenty years of real estate development, primarily with master planned communities. As a project manager for Kamehameha Investment Corporation from 1996-2004, he managed the construction of a fire station in Keauhou; managed the renovation of Kaulana at Kona, a Keauhou 44-unit condominium development; coordinated the design and construction of Kulana 'Oiwi, a Hawai'ian multi-service center on Molokai; coordinated the successful bid, design, construction and marketing of the Department of Hawai'ian Home Lands 87-unit Kalawahine Streamside; and coordinated the design, construction and marketing of Bayview Estates at Keauhou, Phase II, a 45-lot subdivision. In addition to his project responsibilities, Mr. Wong prepared the Company's Strategic Master Plan for Keauhou that consists of 23 development parcels spanning a 20+-year horizon.
